Old Timers is a collection of folk music and parlor ballads learned and performed mostly in Michigan and the Great Lakes region in the final decades of the Twentieth Century. The songs in this collection not only have historical and cultural significance, but also a personal connection.
We all know of music's unique propensity for transcendence of time and space, allowing us to virtually relive a past experience, or walk in another person's shoes. I would not trade the many times a listener has described how they feel upon hearing a tune their grandpa fiddled, or a ballad their mother sang to rock them to sleep. It seems all the warmth, wisdom and worth of civilization up to this moment is contained somewhere in our folk music, and it is here for us whenever we need to call it up. |

| "The new recording of old songs was crafted with style and grace by Michigan's troubadour, Neil Woodward. Neil brings to these songs the exact amount of talent, knowledge and respect it takes to remind any listener that old songs don't last simply because they are old, they last because they're good."
